John,
On black cars it's easier to paint the satin parts then masking them... the
end result is not original but from 6' away you can't tell...
I know of one '84 that has happened to... it was an excellent repaint, and
looks original with all the original stickers and stripes...
Were your rain gutters painted as well?

I've had a hunch (can't remember anymore why) that at least some later black
cars left the factory w/o the "satin" black accents around the side windows
and on the decklid. My '84 #901066 is that way (all Montego Black body
color), but is probably not original, so I've been casually trying to track
down whether there's anything to this or not. Anyone know for sure?
