Yes the system does pressurize as it gets hot (if I try to open the
reservoir cap when it hot the coolant bubbles up and overflows). And I do
have a new coolant reservoir - about 6 months old.
I'm thinkign at this point I need to go drive teh car - get it nice and
hot - and come back and start looking real hard with a flashlight.....

Subject: RE: [urq] Disappearing Coolant
... I've had a couple situations where I've had small leaks that created
situations like this.
On the 4kQ there was a pinhole leak in one of the hoses going to the
heater core ... only passed coolant when the engine was hot, and the
resulting spray would evaporate quickly so it was impossible to trace.
One time I pulled into a gas station and noticed a whiff of steam coming
out from the hood right after shutting down ... I quickly popped the
hood and eventually saw the very small stream ...
On the V8 a crack developed in the plastic coolant reservoir right where
the small diameter bleed hose attaches. Here again I was mystified for
some time, until once I happened to notice a small puddle of coolant
underneath the attachment point ...
Does the cooling system pressurize appropriately when the engine warms
up?
