Hello Louis-Allain:
That's what a previous owner did to my urq. Swapped out the WX, and plunked
in the MC.
I discovered a lot, when I had to redo the head gasket!
My urq has WX ECU, WX CIS, WX Intake, perhaps MC exhaust manifold, MC turbo
(Water cooling 'upgrade') and hydraulic MC head. And a knock sensor with
it's wires cut off, still bolted to the block..
If you were to go to all the work of swapping out a WX for a MC, I don't
know why then you wouldn't change to the MC ecu & fuel distributor too? (Not
that you would *have* to do it at the same time though..)
You'd get two map sets (one for high octane gas, one ofr lower octane), knock
sensing, active Idle air control, and the ability to pull codes. "Active"
boost control, and perhaps more redily available 'chipping'.
Am I missing anything in my 'upgrade' concept? Except for the solid lifters,
and reputedly somewhat 'stronger' block, what would be given up?
(Why are solid lifters better, anyway?)
Regards,
=Frank de Kat=
