[urq] WX 000 011... anyone have an earlier??

Hi Martin,

Keep in mind that the castings for the engine do not
necessarily indicate even the engine build sequence. I
would venture a guess that finding any engine numbers
in sequence with chassis numbers would be more
coincidence than anything.  One piece flow probably
would not hold from engine build area through to the
final assembly area.  I don't know much about how Audi
built these cars, but all NA plants have their engine
plants acting as suppliers to their vehicle assembly
plants. The build sheet would probably specify that a
particular engine model/engineering level be used, but
not a specific engine number. 

I think you will find that early cars are lumped with
early chassis numbers based on the build authority
(how far out they can build) that the engine plant
had.
