[urq] Running problems

I did replace mine with a spare that Dennis sent me. This did not
correct the problem.

That's as far as I've gone with it though. I got annoyed and
sidetracked to pulling the center console to check vacuum connections
to the diff lock switch. Central supply line was disconnected. Also,
someone had added a 2nd diff lock switch in the side panel of the
center console. I'm pretty sure it was to lock the rear diff
separately from the center. I eliminated that.

Probably coincidental but on my subsequent test drive to verify diff
lock function, I did not experience any ignition cutout.

In the mean time since then I sidetracked even further and dove back
underhood of the old Mercedes that has been shading the same spot of
my driveway for over 3 years. All the stars were aligned by Sunday
noon or so and it started. Amazingly brakes, transmission, steering,
cooling system, etc. all show no signs of atrophy. Drove to closest
gas station (7/11) added Gumout, filled tank, aired up tires and drove
it back home. After some more tweaking and driving, there are no
signs of 3 years of inactivity. I think it might run better than
before. Probably the timing advanced way past spec. ;-) No pinging
at 20 degrees BTDC. Hmmm.. It's fairly cool here still though.

So one huge success has renewed my interest in things automotive.
Will get urq center console back together in the next few days and go
driving some more to see if I can recreate ignition cutout.

Ed
