Why not just test it in situ?
Room temperature spec is 13 to 33 ohms.
Then, with an air dryer, heat it gently and see if the resistance changes,
(up or down, I don't remember).
You can test it directly at the big ECU plug, in the car. The terminals
used (18 and 19) are listed at the page 23 of the IST-Maintenance and
adjustements PDF document. Very easy.
BTW, this whole procedure (pages 17 to 37) is very efficient to help find a
faultive component. Give it a try, It's free. If you don't have them,
Martin Pajak has them on its site (www.quattro.ca) for download.

I'd like to replace the intake air temp sensor on my '83 UrQ to see if a
cold starting/warmup problem is resolved along with a full throttle
hesitation problem. Dealer cost make this prohibatively expensive. Is
there a substitute for this, eg. can solder in the component - what is it?
Can one from an '86-88 5000 turbo quattro be made to work?
Perhaps someone has one they don't need.
