What car?
What are the symptoms?
Mark
The car is a 10V WX URQ.
The symptoms have manifested themselves since we switched to oxygenated
fuels. Colorado has gone to year round use of same, and I now have vapor lock
year round. Previously it was only in the winter on the crappy gas. Summer heat
wasn't an issue without Oxy-gas.
The car will not hot start after setting for approximately 10-20 minutes. If
I jumper the fuel pump and pull up the air plate via the 3mm screw, I can
hear the injectors whine, and the car will start. Otherwise it is a 10 minute
wait with the hood up.
The injector fan works to spec with the lower temp switch, and I have even
installed a 12V timer relay that I routinely trigger for 16 minutes after full
warm shutdown. That usually prevents the problem, but I occasionally forget
to trip it and suffer the consequence, which seems to always be in the most
embarrassing situations. The injectors don't leak, spray good conical patterns,
and were new in the last 20k miles.
I have even cut a vent into the hood to allow the heat to escape, to no
avail.
When manually running the fuel pump I can hear gas bubbling vigorously back
into the tank upon cranking. I have continually checked and monitored the
fuel pressure, and the pump check valve, and they are all to spec and hold per
the manuals.
It also exhibits starter heat soak in truly hot conditions. I have relayed
the starter (renewing the main battery starter wiring), the fuel pump, and the
headlights, and have installed a push button starter switch to take the load.
I'm running out of cures to implement. I have no problem fixing "issues",
but I get very frustrated when the "issues" seem un-resolvable!
HELP! Anyone!
Oh- and yes I have checked, cleaned, and freshened all the grounds.
Other than that the car runs great! Full throttle and all.
