Hello,
I noticed yesterday that my driver side mirror (on my UrQ) is very loose. It
is securely attached to the door frame, but the rest of the mirror housing
is
loose. I haven't looked into it yet, but I thought I would pump the list for
any idea's. I fear that It might be internally broken but I'm hoping for a
simple fix. Anyone have a set of mirrors to sell, just in case?
Thanks,

This is a common malady for these vintage cars. There is an aluminum frame
inside the mirror that stretches out of shape. You can with proper care and
diligence take it apart and return the frame to very close to it's original
shape. Getting it apart and back together is a pain, but will result in nice
tight mirrors. The biggest hurdle is releasing and re-attaching the 2 springs
that secure the frame and the housing. It's not a job for the easily frustrated.
One of mine has needed tightening for months, and I have avoided it so far.
I may have a pair in the basement, and I might have a pair off my car if
they total it.
