I did not comment on the operation of the tdc sender. I merely stated that I intend to
"replace" it with a resistor. It has 3 wires, 2 signal and one ground.

What is it that you feel I am not correct about?

Ed

Subject: ECU sensors

Ed, I do not think you are correct regarding the 'tdc' sensor operation. The Hall
effect sensor in the distributor provides a 'window' signal signal centred about the
firing position(variable) for cylinder # 1 and is there to synchronise the ECU. It is
actually gated, in hardware in the ECU, with the ignition timing sensor (and output to the
ignition control module) which is the one at the side of the bell housing with the black
connector. The speed sensor is the one at the top of the bell housing with the grey
connector. As has been posted many times before the engine will not run unless the Hall
effect sensor 'window' is correctly set using the arrow on the rotating metal piece in the
distributor, the mark on the distributor housing, the two punch marks on the camshaft
pulley, and the top edge of the cam cover next to the pulley.
