[urq] brakewarehouse information

If you are referring to the Brakewarehouse I have used for 8 years
it is a small operation headed up by Randy Garlock. He gets the
best equipment, Brembo, Bradi or Balo rotors, and does not settle
for run-of-the-mill Zimmerman. He deals in quality. I am converting
my 95.5 Avant to 993TT calipers, Euro 314x30 rotors, nickel plated,
and slotted. My total cost is $1,000 but I had caliper adapters and
pads.
ECS gets $1,500 for this, which is a good deal, although their rotors
are
not going to be as good.

I am not sure he does caliper rebuilds, but for rotors and pads,
he is great!

There is another brakewarehouse group that deal with volume stuff,
recommend
PowerStop as superior but I know that The 3 B's above are the top
quality!

Doesn't mean they won't fit, though!

I've run across this guy's auctions before when looking for wheels for
the wife's Mini. I'm not sure why he wastes his time posting at those
prices...

I just bought a pair of girling rebuilt rears (pads included) for my 90q
from
Chris @ Force 5 for about $110 each. Can't go wrong with Chris! Sorry I
don't
have any info on brakewarehouse.com...

I guess it's a phsycological thing: if the asking price is very high,
bidding _and winning_ with only half the money gives us human beings the

idea it's real cheap... And of course there will always be pps whith
shit
for brains... lol

Dennis,

Did you put that Marketplace Ad for the $25k Urq in your adjuster's
hands?
:-)

Also check EBay, cars.com and autotrader. I believe someone was parting
out
a coupe on marketplace as well, but I'd check for something more local
(Shipping across the country can be very expensive for a bulky piece
like
that. Don't know how much Audi wants for a roof (if even available
separately).

Good luck

OK, fuel pressures check out - system ~90 PSI regulated after warmup 55
PSI.
What's been replaced so far with known goods: ECU, idle valve, fuel
distributor, warm up regulator.
Fuel flow test 18 seconds 750 ml. Vacuum feed directly from back of IM
to ECU.
Fuel pump jumpered to run when ignition on regardless.

Ongoing symptoms:

low (600-650 rpm) idle (rough)

When proper duty cycle 45-55% adjustment is made (frequency valve
buzzing), car will make it out of the driveway (steep) and then up a
not-so-steep (10-15 degree) incline 200 ft and then stalls and won't
restart. Fuel pressures unchanged. Roll down backwards into driveway
(or not), turn CO adjustment two to two and a half turns to the right
and car starts (every time -- but won't idle). Still runs funny and
duty cycle now 5%.

So, I'm thinking replace airflow meter (have feeling it's sticking) or
does this also sound like it could be a clogged exhaust? What throws me
is that I can consistently turn the CO screw to richen the mixture after
stalling and it will start (but not idle). Still stumbles, though. And
the soot out the back is black/gray. I was thinking crank/flywheel
position sensor might be intermittent (wouldn't that suck), but doesn't
explain being able to start the car when enriching mixture. Also, have
tendency to have backfires through air meter...

Ingo (still mit ailing '84 Urq and WX motor)

I spoke with the Santa Cruz Wharf business office
about the possibility of a low key "Urrys on the
Wharf" gathering. Provided we do not serve
food/beverages and just want to park together it would
not be considered an "event" so just normal wharf
parking rates (beginning at 10:00AM) would apply. I
was advised to talk with the Manager (Dan) for more
details, but it is possible we might be able to get
away with a small EZ-Up as well. They way the wharf
office suggested it would work is someone needs to
arrive early (he suggested 7:00AM) to cordon off some
parking spaces. The person I spoke with said
motorcycle and car clubs do this quite a bit and it is
not a problem. We would all be responisble for our own
parking fees as opposed to a group rate.

So, what weekend works???? Let's do this!

Are you sure you pressure tested properly?- seems to be load-related,
no?
Which would seem to steer away from intermittent electricals, right?
Maybe
it is clogged kittty- might as well pull it off and see...

oh wait - i just re-read - you do make it up the two hills- so does it
always stall in the same place? - have you tried letting it idle for a
long
time to really warm it up first...

just trying to jar a thought out of the noggin....

I guess I'm looking for some sort of pattern - load related, temp
related....???

how does the motor sound going up the hill? hissing? sputtering?
backfiring?

anything? anyone?anyone?

Just throwing it out there since I don't recall seeing it: How about
spark
to all cylinders under 3k RPM? Have you tried swapping in a known good
distributor? Other ignition components? When cold, does the car start
in a
similar timeframe as before, or does it require more cranking than
normal?
How about when warm?
