... not clear if the vacuum switch will make a difference ... but it
would only affect cold running ... the valve should open after the
engine has warmed up.  Personally, I'd replace it, but it may not make
that much difference.

Microswitches are all over the place ... there doesn't appear to be
anything special about the one Audi used.  I actually pulled out a
catalog one day when I was thinking I needed one ... but never found a
need to follow all the way through.  See if you can't get manufacturer
and part numbers off the one you have ... otherwise, get the dimensions
of the switch mounting points relative to the actuator and note the
attachment lugs ... anything that matches these will work.  Let me know
if you need more help and I'll see if I can't work it out based on the
one in my car ...

BTW, congrats on the recent airbox find!  Whooda thunk it would be
something like that!
