I have re-posted this because I think it got lost while the server etc was down. - I seem to be besieged with car problems at the moment!
I know this is not urq related but it is AUDI related - I have just purchased a 1995 A6 Avant 2.0L (same shape as the previous model A100) for my beloved but have discovered a couple of problems that were not apparent at the time - at least I didn't notice them (and I should have done!)
1. The oil temperature and water temperature gauges do not appera to work.
I earthed the leads to these gauges and in each case to gauge rose suggesting the wiring is intact and the gauges work. I have therefore replaced the senders but still these do not work and am at a loss to know why. The oil temperature needle does lift slightly when the ignition is switched on but does not then rise further from that position. The Water temp needle does not move at all. Could this be the voltage stabiliser? Also the trip computer is very dim and hard to read.
2. The engine (ABK code) seems to have a poor throttle response and the revs sometimes rise and fall rather disconcertingly. If, for example, you are holding steady rpm you can feel the engine start to surge and then fall back and surge and fall back. It does not happen all the time but is worrying when it does. The engine is very smooth with no other obvious problems.
I've searched the net for answers - there have been similar questions posted on several forums but little in the way of suggested cures.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions of how to rectify these problems. I'm placing my faith in Audifans.com to come through where others have clearly failed!
Look forward to the replies.
Many thanks
Keith
