Uh... yeah... sorry... I meant "symmetrical" -- shows you how much I pay attention to it! 
I agree with James, though.  I think it's far more marketing-speak than anything else. 
Although, for that matter, that's pretty well true for "quattro' these days too, what with 
Haldex and the like, badge engineering regardless of the thechnology involved, etc.

As Brandon said, Subaru's done a much better job of marketing AWD, especially here in the 
NE US.  *Owning* the AWD passenger car thang was Audi's opportunity to piss away, and sure 
enough...  Grudging points to Subaru, indeed.
