Not really hypocritical - the message is that they have been in the car
technology business as a winner for a long time. I do not think there is an
intention to say that if you buy your RS4 today you can expect the same
support for it in 20 years time. Although you can probably count on support
for an A4 in 20 years because the volume is there but I seriously doubt that
the special parts on the RS4 will be any more available than those of the
Urq. I believe the RS4 will be produced in even more limited quantity RH
drive versions and suspect that parts for that car will be like the hen's
teeth they call SQ parts.
I would be interested to know how much Urq owners would pay for the NLA
suspension parts as in say control arms. I had these priced on an
adjustable aluminum basis and am interested in comparing my view of cost
with others?

It's hard to argue most of your points from an economic perspective.
However, is Merc using a classic 280 SL in their attempts to conjure up
a level of mystique that is intended to draw in new car sales? I think
the point is, Audi is plenty comfortable using ur-quattros, sport
quattros, S1's, whatever to hock their new cars, but they are doing all
they can to NOT support these classic Audi statement automobiles.
It's just as hypocritical as can be.
