Yeah, but if you drive your car 25 miles per year like Audi would like you
to, you can make one set last a lifetime.. :-)

Yes much easier,
but seeing Audi's track record of late, I wonder how long the urq 20v ball
joints will be available. Knowing Audi's master plan of late to delete their
history, I'm sure the RR ball joints will go up in price as the supply
drains.
cheers,
Craig

Or just get the proper 20v RR ball joint which is still available and the
same cost as the CQ part.. :)

Jim,
you could use the later style coupe 1990-1991 20v or urq 20v control
arms with the later style 20v coupe ball joints on the urq. If I recall
correctly the coupe 20v ball joints are 19 mm stud as opposed to the urq
18mm stud on the ball joint. Seeing as the urq and coupe 20v have the same
bolt pattern on the control arms you could modify the urq struts by drilling
or reaming out the 1mm required to make the coupe 20v ball joint work on the
urq using the 20v control arms.
cheers,
Craig Cook

Are ball joints really that big a problem? Why can't we find a ball joint
that fit's the strut correctly and modify the control arm? I'm sure I'm
falling into "6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other" territory, but I have no
problem modifying a set of control arm in order to buy "off the shelf" ball
joints.
