Yes, the adjusting mechanism, as I recall, can actually be swapped from 
one side to the other.

I know I did it once or twice, and as far as I can remember (we're going 
back many years here), there was no drilling or other tough work involved.

The center of the seat, that rides on the guide, is symmetric, and the 
rear sliders are the same.  You just need the levers to be on the same 
"side" of the seat as the release mechanism mounted to the car floor.

If you need more detail or clarification I can probably look under some 
spare seats and elaborate.
