The ticking is quite normal with new EM, and its from the contraction of
different materials. It will stop when the contraction - expansion path
is established.
About consumption, if you have clean air filter, and the fuel reading
potentiometer adjustment hasn't been altered, and you tried it with CSI
disconnected, and the WUR is working correctly, and the enrichment
switch isn't connected all the time, and if the enrichment solenoid
comes in at correct time, (eh, our lovely CIS), then your foot is to blame.
