[urq] Motivating Audi to produce Parts

Thanks Thomas, But I don't really disagree with Mike either. It happens I
was fortunate enough to buy a car that was in outstanding, nearly original,
condition and I feel obligated to maintain it that way. There are a couple
of cars local to me that are neglected and I think I'd do pretty much with
them as Mike is talking about. Now if mike were to use a pristine example
as his starting point, I would want to have a nice father-son discussion
with him :-)

I agree our evangelism does help sell cars for Audi. As I was Picking up the
urS6 at the Dealer (T-Belt) last Thursday I heard my name being called.
Friend of mine, who admired my dedication to the brand was there buying a
new A8.

Interesting you mention the S8. Today my wife and I drove up to Denver with
the intention of Buying an '03 S8. You know, the silver one with the
Bordello Bordeaux interior. I thought it would make a great cruiser between
Colorado and San Diego. Well, it was sold just before I got there (Dennis
did you buy it?). This particular "Audi Brand Specialist" at McDonald was
so bad I wanted to empty the S6 compressor outlet hose at 26 psi up his...
So we gathered our wits and common sense and visited Prestige to see if they
had any, "nope" but my little (5'11') lady of 37 years next Monday suggested
this cute little Blue Avant might fit our needs. Steve you can add a '06 S4
Avant to the list.

What really gets my hackles up is that too often the sum of the parts is
worth more than the car. (Especially if the parts are as scarce as they are
for the Urq) For example: I'm putting my RS2'd 95.5 UrS6 on the market. At
the same time I'm looking for a good AAN with all the RS2 goodies for the
'87 4kq restoration. Do the math, how much do I have to sell the S6 for to
make it worth while. If I part it, I have all the goodies and I know they
are good, and I can still sell off the 996 C brakes, the FMIC, the brand new
17x8 C5 Avus rims the S6+ rear lights and....... you get my drift and I'm
in danger of becoming a hypocrite.

I sure hope you buddy got the Bang & Olufsen option .I'd buy it just to see
the tweeters rise from the dash..well .It might have to be a "cute Avant" S8
to pass the wife test.

Bruce, I totaly agree with you but don't forget about the periphery sales as
a result of nutcases like myself. (and you?) If I only got commision for all
the sales I've sent to the local dealer. I've even turned my diehard BMW
buddies into quattro fans.

my lineup, besides my Urq I have five other Audis on the road. ok, my wives
01.5 S4 is the newest of the bunch but I've been trying to talk her into
something more current, she just won't part with her b5. ok, so if she
doesn't want to, I just might.... I'm seriously liking the new RS4. A LOT of
money but I think I'm hooked !

A buddy should have the first 07 S8 in the country! (early Sept delivery) I
talked him into his first Audi (200tq) and he's even worse than I am now.

ah, I see the problem now... Audi puts out a great product and they KNOW
it...

tom.

p.s. buddy waiting for S8 is looking for a home for his 03 A6 4.2 sport.
Hasn't started advertising it yet but it's got to be the nicest 4.2 I've
ever seen ! in case anyone is looking.... 8-)

VW is in the business of selling new cars. I think they would be strongly
motivated to listen if they thought urq owners were brand loyal and
purchased new cars. In other words, how much financial clout do we have? I
can imagine their perception is we motor heads who only buy used cars and
have no economic value other than helping them clean out the old parts
inventory.

So let's do some research for them.

How many urq owners have purchased a new VW or Audi in the past 5 years? How
many? Go ahead and include all in your immediate family.

I'll start, among my wife and two son's we count an '04 Jetta GLI, '04 Golf
GTI, '05 A4 1.8q and two '06 A3 3.2 DSG for a total of 5. See, I fit the
motor head pattern :-)

Would ny one volunyteer to be the tally master so we don't overburden the
list traffic?
