Brandon, I suspect you're right -- that starting is less efficient than idling -- but I 
think you really want to anticipate the light, do all of your slowing off-throttle at 
above 2,000rpm (idle switch closed, fuel cut-off, engine braking), then time your throttle 
application for the green light.

Awfully big assumption don't you think - that the car would start back
up.  Just joshin'....

Anywya I'd say no - my guess is it takes more than a minutes worth of
gas to idle a warm car to start the engine.  Not to mention additional
wear on starter, battery, no a/c or music while waiting....
