[urq] Obsolete

Mike,

I can sympathize with you in such a big way, being the now former owner
of an early '83. I found myself spending far too much time and money
dealing with Audi trying to sweep their past under the rug, so to speak.
It was this extra effort and expense that drained me to the extent I
could not hope to keep the car up in the condition I had brought it back
to. Especially when I see the availability of heritage BMW parts and
have one of the largest suppliers, Bavarian motor sports, practically in
my back yard...

Don't get me wrong, dynamically speaking, the urq is a dream on wheels,
and it's rich history is also very intriguing. It's such a shame that
Audi has abandoned urq owners the way they have.

I have now rid myself of all my Audi's save one 86 5kcstq that my wife
forbids me to cast away.

Just my $.02

Subject: [urq] Obsolete

I tried to buy inner front sway bar bushes for my '84 ur-q yesterday -
the part is now obsolete, along with the earlier style. Audi want me to
change subframes to the '86+ type. And just how long will the bushes for
these be around?

Given Audi's policy to obsolete parts required to keep a car "on the
road"
can anyone suggest ways we might persuade Audi to re-think their
strategy?
This continues to piss me off.

....and short fenders at double the price - words fail me......
