If you tend to run your tank that low you could have sucked in some crud
from your tank! I would start by checking the fuel filters?

Subject: [urq] sudden stumbling
Hi ,
I really need some professional advice from you guys before I get my
precious -88 MB to service.
I had not driven the car for about 1,5 weeks. When I fired it up it started
immediately and ran fine, I drove off and let it warm up... when I turned to
the motorway, I gave full boost for a while and I instantly noticed some
hesitation, and at this point I noticed that the fuel reading was empty, and
the fuel range was 0, despite I had some gas in it when I left it.
I drove carefully to the next fuel station and filled her up, but the
hesitation did not go away.
Question: could the low fuel level have broken the engine? What could have
been broken?
I should also mention that the car stumbled despite I drove slowly. But
later when I started the car from cold, it ran fine on low revs, but
directly as the boost level rised it started stumbling.
Cheers,
Johan Hisinger
