... you can support the car on blocks to eliminate the tire flattening issue completely.
Unfortunately I also have extensive experience on this ... the two major worries are the battery and the fuel. Make sure the engine oil and tranny/diff fluid are new and dry and I doubt you'd have any problems there. If you have a trickle charger you can leave on the car it would probably suffice. Depending upon your time horizon, for the gas you can try to minimize the gas in the tank (no more than a gallon or two of gas with stabilizer) for indeterminate storage, or fill the tank to the top to minimize risk of condensation for shorter term storage. If the engine runs, you can start it up and allow the engine to warm up to full operating temps say once a month. If the engine doesn't run you can pull the spark plugs and crank the engine over for 15 seconds or so every couple weeks ...
... oh that I'd followed my own recommendations! My old Fox GTI would still run after sitting for several years ... except that moisture in the gas trashed the fuel tank and clogged the lines ...
