[urq] alternator whine puzzle (X post) long

My experience with the same noise on the same 2Bennett piece lead me to
believe that the noise and minor vibration was caused by the belt to the
alternator being kinked. The pulley of the alternator is no longer perfectly
in line with the drive pulley. I shimmed my alternator pulley out away from
the front of the alternator to avoid some interference with the AC belt (the
two were touching). That did not solve the issue and in fact made the pulley
offsets even worse. What I suggest is somehow removing the AC compressor and
seeing if you can't get the new alternator to line up perfectly with the
alternator drive pulley. If this is accomplished and the thing still whines,
I'm stumped. But in my opinion there are two causes, contact between 2 drive
belts or extra contact with the sides of the pulleys caused by poor
alignment of the pulley to the drive pulley. My $0.02.
