Or, in my car, the problem was that the rear calipers were rebuilt without any
lubricant on the square o-ring... So they always dragged a bit after a few
hundred kilometers.
I was able to pinpoint them with my new Mastercool Infrared thermometer. You
drive on a deserted road for a few km, then you coast to a stop without touching
the brakes, and shoot each disk with the IR thermometer. I discovered that after
replacing the brake hoses, brake cables, new disks and pads all around. I was
ready to order a new proportionning valve (since the MC was replaced 2 years
ago) when someone told me to open the rear calipers to see if the pistons were
returning fully. All that was needed was some silicone grease on the pistons and
the square-section o-ring and the situation is corrected.
