Exactly. 

It seems that the retraction of the piston is done by this square-section rubber
ring. And since the urQ setup involves a rotating piston, to compensate for wear
the piston must spin relatively freely in the ring to attain its "objectives".
Anyway, when I dismantled the calipers, they were perfect inside (no rust, no
scores) but the pistons were real hard to rotate. Reassembly with silicon brake
grease resolved the problem.
