[urq] RE : Photo of my rear tie rod and chassis dent.

You guys would be surprised what other people can do (and have done) to
screw these cars up. On second thought, no, you probably wouldn't be
surprised. On my first '83 Urq, which supposedly had the now discontinued
Uncle John Eibach/ Bilstein setup, it always sat really, really low in the
back. Made for go-kart like handling, but choppy ride otherwise. I noticed
all close coils in the rear were more than close (progressive springs) -
they were touching. Upon removal, someone had not only put Bilstein Sports
in the rear, but ones for the 90-91 Coupe! Anyhow, I ended up putting in
the stock '85 springs with HD Bilsteins. :-)

Oh joy!

Always be observant.

Ingo

I bet you are right. The inner portion of the tie rod is spun 180 out. Now
I want to go look at my car as take a look see. I bet it's the same way.

The next questions would be: How did it get that way? The tie rod of mine
that broke was, without a doubt, the orignal piece, so why would someone
have pulled it and then accidently installed it upsidedown. I know,
anythings possible, but it does seem strange.

Is it possible that if it was spun the "Other" way to clear the body, that
it would be too "Low" and hit the sub-frame?
