Rig your tach so 1100 rpm is indicated as 2500.
Mostly kidding-
I've got nothing - other than options involoving climbing under there to
install a cat or center section

Subject: [urq] Dang ol' noisy car - suggestions?
At lunch today, I went through DEQ so I could renew my tags. Apparently
Oregon has changed the noise test from "At the inspector's discretion"
to mandatory on all cars. My car made between 95 and 100 db at the 2500
idle test vs. the maximum allowed of 93. The inspector let me try a few
times, but to no avail.
I'm not interested in changing any aspect of my car's exhaust (It ain't
broke, just VERY non-restrictive), I just need to make it a bit quieter
temporarily to pass the test.
Somewhere between cramming steel wool into one of the tail pipes and
actually bolting something into/onto the exhaust, there must be a clever
and easily reversible trick I can employ...preferably without having to
get under the car...
Any great ideas out there?
TIA,
Jon
