HHHMM, my spare (full sized 15 inch with stock tire) fit in my trunk and had
a tie down installed b y the PO to keep it in place tilted transversly.  I
can't say if a 16 would fit as I don't carry  a spare now that I upped
sized, but given the rolling diameter is very similar I'd guess it would
also fit.

Or, one could retain the stock mini spare and then be prepared to do a
double tire change in the event of a front flat.
No matter what, you're not fitting a full size spare of any sort in
