Hey JP -
Been a long time since I've seen a post form you - hope all is well.
Here are my thoughts:
1. If you are ditching the a/c - which it sounds like you are - you can
use the factory 4kq (or probably CGT also) alternator mount - puts the
alt on the driv side of the engine and frees up room for a big arse IC.
You can get a 2B one, or a 944T IC and have it modified by somebody who
can weld aluminum. If you are _keeping_ the a/c and want to do a big IC
and need to move the alt - we need to talk - see my long thread entitled
"alternator whine puzzle (X post) long"
2. You'll need to carefully extract a freeze plug from the block and
install a freeze plug nipple in the block and you can use all factory
turbo water lines for the turbo. The freeze plug nipple is available at
the dealer for about $12 last I checked. This assumes you are still
using a KKK center section , not Garrett. For oil lines, this gets
goofy - you'll need to either convert to a single oil filter boss and
get oil lines form the later 10Vt engines, or find the oil lines from an
'85 ( and ONLY '85) 5ktq and you can keep your original dual filter
boss.

Hey all, thanks for all the fantastic feedback and information, I know
there is a wealth of knowledge in this group and in advance just wanted
to say thanks to peoples feedbacks and information!
I'm about to embark on a large project for me, but probably minor for
others, but wanted to lay out the plans I have too see if people have
better options or things that I have not considered? My final goal is to
have something that has more lower punch, better cooling under the hood
(ok contain the heat better), maybe run a few more PSI or the same but
better air inlet temps would help right? I'm not looking to create a
monster, but just better than stock...I think I would be happy with
15-16PSI...Is that reasonable and safe for this car?
1 - Pull intercooler and alternator, with the plan of moving the
alternator to the where the AC compressor is now ( Will need to find a
place to make a custom bracket to mount it) and rewire.
2 - Pull the Turbo, and exhaust manifold, replace the turbo with a
K24/26 Hybrid I had built, plumb the oil and water lines, check the
exhaust manifold for the "crack" (not sure of better soultions? I have
seen various exhaust manifolds out there for S4/S6 etc but dont know if
they will fit or if an RS2 manifold might be an option too) To get it
ceramic coated and possible place additional heat shielding between in
the intake and exhaust manifolds.
3 - put it all back together and fit/fab a larger intercooler now the
alternator has been moved? And add silicone hoses...
Other info - the exhaust is already pretty free flowing (High flow cat
and rest is pretty much straight through) - Fuel Dist has been rebuilt
with 15% increased fuel flow...so air/fuel gauge shows as running well
across the board and rich at WOT...I never hear it knock YET...
(Yes, this is on the original engine, which has good compresson, does
not smoke runs great - I dont know that I want to do a full engine swap
at this time...but yes have considered a 90-91 200 turbo engine for
better management, but I dont have the skills to do a swap or money to
do a full rebulid and massive engine)
(PS- looking for a good set of waterlines and fittings needed to plumb
in the turbo - I know 034 has a nice set and may go new - but will
consider if you have anything in your basement?)
Thanks all
JP Chaplen
