Ah... the fundamental mistake.  A car is NOT an investment, but a money pit.  I think there are only rare occasions where one can expect to get back what they have "invested."
 
The only rational consolation... you had a lot of fun for less than the cost of a new Kia.

That may be true, sad but true. But my bottom dollar is double that 
and I've got 4 times that invested in the car, not to mention hundreds 
of hours of work. It almost makes me cry that nobody wants it at just 
$15K. 
 
But such is the game in modifying cars. I'll probably have to rent a 
garage and park this thing for a couple of years until the rest of my 
life sorts out and I can get back to it.
