[urq] Tuner MB SL750? (NAC)

Sorry for the NAC, but this seemed like a group of enough nutty people that someone might know about this...

Anybody ever heard of an late-90's vintage M-B SL-Class tuner car called the SL750? 

I saw one last weekend at a trendy outdoor bar by the waterfront. Inititally I assumed cheesey badge engineering, but the otherwise very subtle and functional-looking upgrades (polished period-correct gold-trim M-B wheels, massive but discreetly positioned dual exhaust, etc) smacked of german luxo-tuner. 

The pink-bereted 20-something kid driving it looked criminally wealthy (like drug-lord wealthy) with a girlfriend to match. 

A google search for "Benz SL 750" (among other search cue attempts) netted only an "urban myth"-type anecdote by a corvette driver in SoCal who alleges to have had his doors blown off in a stoplight drag by one of the same silverish color.

So now my curiousity is really peaked - anybody know anything about this machine? I love spotting rare cars like this, so would love to know the story behind it if there is one...
