... my apologies for causing so much confusion ...
I know that many here know this, but about a decade ago the members of the audifans list managed to pull off a national event called AudiFest two years in a row. These events were both held in the area around Pikes Peak. My earlier post mentioned Pikes Peak in reference to the AudiFest events, it is not that Pikes Peak has somehow emerged as the location of choice for UPG2008. AFAICT there was no consensus achieved. That is why I'm trying to go back to 1997/98 and asked if anyone here knew what process was used back then to arrive at the location? Perhaps we can use a similar process to put a stake in the sand for UPG2008 ... that's what I'm thinking at least.
In one of those earlier posts I tossed out an idea that we might be able to get some traction by putting a group of a few members who have some time to put to the effort to try to put a proposal together (let's say no later than by the end of January). By no means is this intended to say that discussion cannot take place on the list ... it is just that to date discussions on the list have not borne much fruit. When we started time wasn't that much of an issue, but as the new year is soon to start, it is becoming more so ...
A few months ago I created a group on Yahoo, but it was intended to supply some of the support functions audifans does not ... most notably facilities for polls and a calendar ... the list is expressly not intended for discussion of UPG2008 (I have the group moderated and did not expect to allow any posts to actually go to the group).
Let me also be clear that these are just my thoughts ... and I am certainly open to those of others about ways to work toward making a national UPG meeting in 2008 a reality.
