The 944 one would work fine to replace the grill, protruding out.
Functionally it would be ideal.

However, I don't want to advertise big guns that I may be carrying - aka
stealth and speak softly and carry the big stick!

How about a "split" thing -  as if you had one big intercooler in place 
of the grill, but in the middle just a 2-3" section of pipe, to clear 
the hood release stuff?  It would stick out and eliminate the grill, of 
course...
