A few things in play, actually.  It can have deposits of varnish or  
other debris, and also (more likely) is the fuel pressure regulator  
attached to the metering head goes bad -- and not available  
separately (so I've heard).

Oh, then there's those rubber pieces that can shrink.

Mine was also solved by replacing the metering head....
