I am about halfway through the installation of a balanced MC-1 topped with Big
Valve head using EFI and MAC-14 ignition and 65mm+ exhaust on out and I'll be
starting with a k24/AAN turbo. I'm looking at the intercooler possibilities,
but keeping AC makes it look more like no dice without major cutting and
welding. This is all going into my '83 Ur Quattro.
So I'm trying to see what others have done intercooler-wise. I prefer to
keep the alternator and AC in their current location. Oil cooler can be
relocated and Aux. radiator will be mover or deleted if required. I am using
the MC-1 oil filter block rather than the dual-filter UrQ setup, so that
should help some. I have on hand an AAN intercooler (short and stout), a
Porsche 944 intercooler ( 22" long and almost 6" square), and some other ones
that flow better than stock, incl. 200QT20V unit. I don't mind making a few
changes requiring cut& weld, but want to retain the hood latch mechanism.
It would be nice to see what others have done before I commit. What to do?
Ben
