[urq] Tire choices (OT?)

John,

I agree with you WRT tires with big blocky threads, they tend to become
noisy after a while, mainly because wear is usually wedge-shaped
longitudinaly. Swapping the tires often, from side-to-side to even the wear
can retard the phenomenon, but it will appear one day.

I had this problem on the family car, a big Swedish wagon with P Zero Nero,
and on the Cabrio with 2 sets of 205/50r15 Dunlops. As I grew older, I
prefer the quietness of the all-seasons tires for the family car. They
squeal more, but they are quieter for a longer period. Experience from other
listers on Saabnet confirms your theory.

But, all is not lost: I managed to sell the used tires quite a good price,
usually to younger chaps with shallow pockets... Half price for half wear is
really easy to obtain.

my S4, and they're incredibly noisy. Might be related to some unique wear

they're a little too noisy for this old fart.
