Cool car, no ?
2CV are very low-key vehicle. Beetles and Fiat 500 were downright luxurious
in comparison. WRT the seats; yes indeed, these are more like deck chair,
but they are removable, as well as the rear bench, so you can take then out
for pick-nick !
And that "Citroen" spirit is everywhere: the independent suspension is all
contained in the tube that runs bellow the door sills. It contains a spring
that is stretched by levers acting from the suspension arms. No shock
absorbers, but instead there is a "batter", a weight that counteracts the
suspension movement. Very light, very robust, very typical Citroen
innovation.
One day, I'll have one. Just for the coolness factor.

Louis-Alain,
I love the two key fobs, but is that a deck chair they used for the driver
seat!

There was also a factory 2CV twin engine car named "2CV Sahara". 694 were
built between 1958 and 1966.

BTW, you know I am writing a paper on the different 4x4 systems. So this
little snail will be in it for sure. But I can't decide if the center diff
is locked or open ?

Max, I'm not sure they ever *did* get the throttles to sync up properly,
which may have been part of the problem. I've fantasized about what one
might be able to do with modern feedback and control electronics, but it's
beyond me!
There is also the story of John Cooper having built a twin-engined Mini.
I'm not sure how
well any of it is documented, but supposedly it nearly claimed his life
while testing on a rain-soaked road course.

Car and Driver sponsored and wrote up on two of these vehicles: A twin
engine civic, and a twin engine VW golf. The twin engine golf was a rally
car,
and also competed in Pikes Peak (very fast but DNF).

the VW Iitis? or was that just a commercial off-road vehicle?
