[urq] Clutch Friction Materials

So 2Bennett is nearing completion of the UrQ 4.2L V8 swap and the question
of clutch has come up. The previous conversions they have done used a
racing-type frcition material that lasts something like 40,000 miles. With
this clutch, the engine (which is estimated to prodcue 350hp) supposedly
will smoke the tires, and does so on their 4000Q V8 conversion. They were
reluctant to use an OEM S4 clutch which could last a bit longer because of
concerns over slippage and subsequent glazing if the car is driven hard. The
issue seems to be the lack of lag on the NA motor producing torque at lower
RPMs and loading up the clutch more. I'm reluctant to give up clutch
longevity (I plan on driving it up to 5,000 miles a year) if there is some
other clutch out there that I could use and get a few more miles out of,
while still capable of taking a beating. Anyone have any thoughts or BTDTs
on high torque motors? Thanks.
