Max,
I don't mean to appear insensitive, but you are always asking these
questions to the Urquattro list. We concentrate on the Ur-quattro --
the original turbo quattro coupe. I really think you should address
your questions to the quattro list:

If it was an urquattro, I'd suspect a broken gear for the odometer --
but I don't know about your 1986 turbo quttro 5000 -- but I wouldn't
be surprised if it's the same situation.
