[urq] UPG 2008 Planning

One of the reasons we're talking now is because people were interested in seeing if we could somehow put a unified UPG event together. From my POV, I'm easy to please ... I don't need a rallying event or even a track day. I want to get together with other like-minded fans and put a few more faces to the names here. To me a central event that allows folks from the other side of the continent to attend will better achieve the latter goal. I'm expecting at least a two day drive each way ... and I'm hoping that we'll be able to put together some sort of caravan from the left coast. From my POV doing that makes the drive part of the event.

I checked my daughter's school schedule and she doesn't have any time off in April ... she has a week in February and a week in March. She gets out of school in early June.

You know, I've been thinking about this, and it would really be helpful if we had some tools to help collect and coordinate information. It is so unfortunate that the audifans never blossomed as it could have ... there are no facilities for doing this sort of planning. I'm thinking that if we had a yahoo group that people could use to enter availability schedules and such it could help ... are there any other similar facilities we might use? Are there other groups of urq fans outside this group? Any ideas how we can coordinate with them?

My main interest, which I think is shared by everyone, is to gather as many
URQs as possible. A recurring annual event would be fantastic!
I believe that trying to gather from both coasts with a central location to
both will achieve neither. While the suggestions of Kansas City & Omaha are
very central and would be on my go list (1 day trip), I think we would not
get much attendance from either coast. The recent Park City Utah event saw
only 10 cars, most of which were from Colorado. Planning an event 800 miles
farther East (i.e. K.C.) and I feel the participation will be even less. I have
also not to date seen much East coast interest. Any interest in K.C from
eastern listers?
