I'm still thinking we need to be looking along the I35 corridor. That pretty much bisects our great land.
If people are driving 10 hour days at 70mph average thats 700 miles a day. 1400 miles in 2 days. Original suggestions of the North South Line along I35 make it possible for pretty much everyone in the US and Southern edge of Canada. i.e. everyone in the nation is within 2 days driving of the destination so we aren't excluding anyone by geography.
here is what I don't want to have happen, We lose someone willing to drive 2 days each way but unable to drive 3 days because we push the event too far to one coast.
Other points.. Autocross, track event, etc. I agree with what Scott is saying. Just Indy is too far East. Ive been going there for the past 7 years for USGP (nice city) and its 1.5 days driving from Texas. More like 3.5 days driving from California or Seattle.
