Not sure if I want to take my car on a long trip in July or August. These
car are running "hot" we all know that and I was hoping for something in May
or June (cooler days to drive long distance). Just my $0.05...

Thanks Eric R,
Thinking of it, I may confuse Eric L. 1985 urQ and the 1986 Coupe GT that I
dismantled right after repairing his car. I remember ordering the filter for
the hydraulic system and the ETKA listing was erroneous. I ended buying the
little cartridge identical to my UrQ's.
So all urQ have the metal reservoir, and all uses the red ATF fluid.
Stephen, looks you won't have to sue anybody now...

All original N. Am. urqs I've seen have the same metal reservoir. Both
my '85 and '86 have it. I think I've seen the plastic one you describe
on the type 44, maybe?

Oh yeah, I forgot that the power steering-only type 85 cars had that
little plastic bottle.

Your brake problems lie elsewhere, possibly a siezed caliper from non-use?

Ummm...if it is in the brake fluid you don't want to use Pentosin! If it is
the power steering fluid/brake pressure assist fluid then that's the
Pentosin one. I don't know enough about UrQ's to tell you which reservoir
is which, sorry. If it is the power steering/brake assist there is no need
to bleed the brakes. I can't imagine a shop would have mistakenly put
tranny fluid in the actual brake master cylinder...EGADS!

-------- There has been a stupid error by the Repair Shop that "Worked" on
my '85 Urq and I just found out. They bled the brakes and replaced the
fluid with ATF. I just found out by checking the Invoice again then
looking in the container. What is the best way to remedy the problem.
Should I just remove the Red fluid from the reservoir and fill it with
Pentosin and then bleed the brakes?? What could have been harmed by the ATF
in the system , that I should check before I drive the car, when I get it
started...I'm still reinstalling the MegaSquirt ECU, etc. Does pumping the
peddle many times apply here , in some way? They had told me that they bled
the brakes and were going to go to the SmogShop for the Test, but that after
just a few blocks, the breaks locked up. That is All the info they gave me.
Thanks In Advance , ... Stephen Redford '85Urq with More Problems than I
need right now.

I saw that Blau had a conversion kit to add pressurized struts to the urq
hood so I ordered it ... before I go and drill the 4 holes for it I thought
I'd see if any others here have used this kit, or is it better to get the
factory parts? By any chance does anyone know if the gas cylinders Blau
uses are standard cylinders? I don't see any markings on them, so I want to
make sure that they are readily available. From what I've seen of Audi hood
struts they don't seem to use the ball and socket joints for attaching.
Thanks!

I just had someone else sign up for the yahoo group ... so I thought I'd
ping
again. So far there's been precious little discussion on list ... and very
little off list that I know about. Scott J is willing to take charge of an
Indianapolis event ... in fact I think he may have already started putting a
team together. I think Indianapolis will work for most folks in the east
and
midwest ... even Canada ... but I doubt many are going to make it from the
west
coast. Depending upon when it is held I may be able to swing it. At this
point
I'd say mid-July to early August would be completely out for me for a trip
to
Indy.
Thoughts about what time would be best to hold the event?
