The 5600 km was done since May 2007

This can indeed be the case. Tyres have done such low mileage though you
would have thought the fitters who put them on would have noticed any
powdery deposits on the rim/bead area (unless of course the 5600km has been
done over 10 yrs). Sometimes such a leak can be detected by taking wheel
off, laying flat and running some washig up liquid around the rim/bead. Even
if slow puncture the liquid will blow a bubble or bubbles.
