The linkage, and the location of the linkage is also very different.
You will need to cut the tunnel to place the shifter mechanism in the proper orientation.

I think that 2Bennett did a conversion with a six-speed 01E that I read
about. IIRC, it wasn't bolt-on though, I think the 01E is longer than the
016 and it requires a shortened driveshaft. I can't remember if the mounts
required any modification or not.
