Well, good for you US guys, price parity is still not a reality for us
Canadians.
But my post was about availability, not price, mainly because I was sure
that Audi did not supply them anymore. Maybe it was because I was not able
to find the part number in ETKA ? I had to ask a UK guy, James at
kvquattro.com, to finally have a valid part number. That's why I wanted to
post, to keep it in the archives.
About the car under the antenna, we got snow yesterday and it was my first
stint since the engine rebuilt : these cars are really made for snow duty,
much more fun than any ESP-ed AWD newer cars. There is a snow lapping event
for me this January for sure.
I am driving an A5 this week : not much mileage yet, 'cause tires are
255/35ZR19 PZero Rosso's... It looks very good, though. And it is not bigger
(inside) than the urq : same cosy feeling, same good visibility, much more
powerful (V6 3.2). I hope I will be able to drive it a bit in the
twisties...

Louis,
BTW you got the numbers crossed up.
857 051 560 IS for motorised units and
000 051 560 is for manual units.
Hope this helps.

Well Martin, you are indeed right.
857 051 560 is for motorised units
000 051 560 is for manual units. ( 000051560 for archives)
Availability is lower for the second one, as there is only 4 left in the
USA, after the 2 I bought for Brady and me. Price is much cheaper at 46$CDN.
Could it be that Audi heard us years ago when we complained about the high
prices for regular wear items ? Since a year or so, I am often surprised
that some parts are actually very competitively priced : upper strut mounts
(44$), cowl water separator (36$), hood cable (14$), exhaust gasket-donut
(18$). In 2001-2002, I am sure, these parts were much pricier, the strut
mounts were 125$ each and the exhaust donut was 75$.
Maybe after all they are listening to this list, and think the preservation
of older Audis is a worthwhile task?

857 919 457 (operating pressure, side of the block)
857 919 457B (circuit pressure, under the block)
I think the one that quits first is the side one, because it is at much
higher pressure. In fact I replaced it years ago, and I still have a
replacement unit uninstalled for the second one beneath the block.

Louis,
Yes, the prices were higher, however you have to be careful because on
some of the NLA items some dealers (not all) will go aftermarket.
Hood cables are $7 aftermarket and ANSA donuts are $10 each. Quality is
not the same. Hood cable handles are now plastic and donuts are that
cheap soft material that falls apart rather quickly.
The blue mounts are NLA and the dealer will sell you the green stuff
that's $15 aftermarket.
Just my $0.02
Cheers
