i've installed the 034 firewall brace. it works as intended. it in way
attaches to the steering column, or touches the brake master. it simple
makes a jaunt over to the HD braced steering rack mount on the drivers side
strut tower.
the other ebay piece looks sufficient to me. although it doesn't show how to
mount it, my imagination tells me that it does almost the exact same thing,
but mounts directly up to the tower and not the steering rack mounting area.
just because of the angles of that piece is what gives me that notion.
as far as strength, anything bracing that firewall is better than nothing.
my first 4kq got a simple piece of 1/2" rod welded from the firewall to the
steering rack mount brace, and it has survived just fine. no extra
sheetmetal plates or anything. and for half the price on that ebay one, i'd
be tempted to try it out. nothing against the 034 one, but as always, value
dictates direction most often.
cheers,
Derek
