[urq] Rear tow hook on an urQ

Exactly, that's how Audi did it on the Euro cars. I've seen a pic
somewhere...

Now, I need something strong enough to pull the car from the snowbank, but
usually it is quite easy since the tow car is on ice, and the stuck car is
headed upwards...

Welding is definitely the way to go. But for this weekend, I'll try to
figure a temporary mount in the hole on the right side. Maybe a chain link
with a thick steel bar in the trunk.

Guess it depends on:
a) how strong you want it
b) how much cutting and welding you are willing to do

I've never had an UrQ - so I really don't know. If its anything like the
4k, there are limited spots to put one w/o messin up the body work. What
I've seen done for medium strength hooks is to weld a loop to the bottom
of the spare wheel well - that's assuming its rust free and you get a
sufficient amount of surface area welded on there.

Subject: Rear tow hook on an urQ

Subject says it all. What are my options ? Bumper is pushed-in, so
useless
for tow.

Now, usually, since I don't go off track that much, I use the front tow
hooks to pull people from the snowbanks where they entered in forward
motion
when I was following them. The urQ with both diff locked and studded
snow
tires is the best tow truck I know, better even than a Cayenne on 20 in
snows (the guy was a bit surprised by the traction the urQ was able to
provide). It's one of those "priceless" moments.

But since Geraint will now have a Quaife in addition to newish studded
tires, and I should be in front of him at no price, I _may_ need a few
pulls
from behind now.J
