Yup, sure seems like that helped a lot, I make sure the cap was much tigher
and is helped a lot, I will get a new cap here shortly...
Did not think that the cap would make SUCH a difference, simply and obvious!
And would figure I would just not think of it.
Thanks all who responded!!!

I bet you 2$CDN that your reservoir cap is old, so old that it can't keep
the system under pressure. This pressure should be around 21 psi, and its
role is to prevent, you've guessed it, boiling ! The top rad hose should be
as hard as a tire inflated to 21 psi, to give you an idea. You should not be
able to squish it easily.
Temps around the cylinders are way over 100C and what you're hearing is
localized boiling. Replace the cap, or find the leak, and everything will be
under control.

The car...basic 83 WX URQ...nothing too fancy, but just curious, is this
normal after a typical driving run?
I can hear it bubble for about 1-2 mins after turning off the car. There is
no that much pressure in the coolant tank, and I'm in the process of
installing a water temp gauge. The oil temp for the entire hour or so I was
driving it was mid to low (as it was a nice cold day out). I was not pushing
the car with boost etc...I have not lost any antifreeze.
I looked on line and I have found others that say its not uncommon? but
thought I would check to see what others say? The cooling fan does come on
as normal, I do have a "cooler" thermostat in the car and nothing seems to
overly hot?
I have fresh antifreeze, prestone that was a premix, so I think I'm good
there?
What have others experienced?
Thanks
