The urq2x organizing crew antagonized over the decision, but in the end we voted to cancel the 09 event. As much as I and everyone involved wanted to pull it off, it just became overwhelming. Reasons? There is a bunch of them, people loosing jobs, people changing jobs, uncertain economic conditions, travel, family commitments, etc. Basically the availability of the all volunteer crew to pull it off got in the way, i.e. life got in the way for many of the organizers, time became the enemy and won. Once we saw the writing on the wall, we tried to get the word out ASAP so people can make alternate plans. 

As with everything in life, we are learning as we go, and we have learned a bunch this year that we will be applying in the future. We've got some ideas that we can use in the future planning. We'll see if something can materialize for 2010, but who knows at this point. If anyone has some input on what they would like to see in a future event, let us know. 

If anyone else wants to put something together for this summer, go for it. Or people could organize some smaller local events and try to bring some more cars out of the woodwork. And there is no doubt, it still is "all about the car".
