I may not realize what it takes to keep a 25 year old car on the road for a week long trip from Vegas to Colorado Springs? I think I can safely say I'm the only person on this list that has driven an Urq to Cabo San Lucas...? from Denver to LA, then down to Cabo, stopping over in Tucson on the way back, and finally returning to Denver. All told, I covered roughly 5000 miles in a week.
I put over 100k miles total on that same Urq (which had a molten engine when I bought it), and quite few more miles on the other 2 that I still have.
I'm pretty sure I get it... and I do all my own work.
You kind of summed it up in your last paragraph: "...if someone (else) wants to roll up their sleeves and do an UrQ get together out west Im all in."? I added the implied "else."
I'm not trying to smack you on a personal level. However, your indication that someone else has ruined your summer and/or your plans is just silly. That group of people owe you nothing. To the contrary, you (and I) owe them. If last year's event was responsible for putting many dormant UrQ's back on the road, say "thanks"... and leave it at that.
Bottom line... it just irritates the piss out of me to hear someone whine about the charitable efforts of others, especially if you are unwilling/unable to step up to the plate and do it better... or at all.

Dave, Let me just say this. ?I mean no disrespect to any of the organizers of UrQ 25 or this years event.
My disappointment was directed at Scott and his eloquent dissertation about Audi's lack of participation or whatnot. ?This group is much more personal than "go read the press release". ?Just because Im the only a**hole speaking my mind doesn't mean Im the only one having similar thoughts. ?
It's a shame you have that insight on keeping a 25 year old car running, last years event was responsible for putting many dormant UrQ's back on the road. ?The car I was referring to here in Vegas hasn't been on the road in years, but it was his passion to get it running and then drive it to Colorado. ?Maybe since these events were in your back yard you may not realize what it takes to plan a week long trip in a 25 year old car in the heat of July.
I wasn't actively involved in the planning of these events, but I did my share of promoting the events to those that aren't active on this list or Audiworld. ?As I said in one of my earlier posts, if someone wants to roll up their sleeves and do an UrQ get together out west Im all in. ?If nothing materializes I'll survive, I have plenty of other interests and things to keep me busy through the summer.

Sean,
It seems that somehow you're trying to hold a group of generous volunteers
"liable" for your disappointment.? Having some vague idea of how much effort was
put into last year's event, I can only view your comments as selfish and
disrespectful.
I am flat grateful for the efforts these folks make, when they can make them.? I
already know that I simply don't have the bandwidth to be anything more than a
participant, and rarely at that... making me all the more appreciative of the
efforts these folks put forth on the behalf of others within this group.
Get over it... be glad there was an Urq25, and be grateful when the next one
comes around.
By the way, if you and your buddy can't adjust your vacation plans with 2 1/2
months notice, I can't imagine how you keep a 25 year old car running.
